Fitness. Its obvious that it is something that I am passionate about, something that I love and believe in BUT IT DOES NOT DEFINE ME. I have other hobbies, other interests, other things that I would like to talk about. I sometimes just feel like it is ALL anyone ever wants to talk to me about. I get their curiosity, their desire to learn more about it but honestly... sometimes I DREAD going to certain things because I am just so sick and tired of talking about it and giving "advice" or suggestions to people who ask for it over and over and over and OVER again but really have no intentions of doing anything about their lifestyle or situation. I am sure some of you can relate... I am not a personal trainer, I do not have my certifications (YET) but I know what I know and I love to help people and see them succeed. I do not however love answering the same questions from the same people every time I am around them KNOWING that I will be doing it again next time I see them. Does that make sense? The other thing that REALLY gets to me is hearing people complain about their weight, or situation yet they are not really willing to make any changes. If you are going to complain about it, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If you are going to ask for my advice or help over and over again, TRY IT OUT and see if it helps you.
I guess I just feel like people honestly don't think I have other interests. I do. I swear. I do however LOVE helping people who REALLY want the help and who are really taking it all in, and seeing results. I have a friend who I have been helping and to see her losing the weight week after week has been so amazing for me. I am so proud of her. She has been inspiring me and keeping me focused on what is ahead.
Do any of you ever feel this way? Maybe I am just being overly sensitive lately because I am lacking carbs and jealous that as they are asking me for advice they are stuffing their faces ;) Ha ha ha! Anyway, its just something that has been weighing on my mind.
What are some of your pet peeves? I have many others. For another post!
oh wow, i can totally realte!!!! i feel the same way!!!!!
ReplyDeletei dont mind helping others at all,i really do enjoy it,BUT there comes a point when the person has to be willing to help themselves....you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink.....yaddayaddayadda...
and yeah i think part of it IS the prep nutrition. i was at the bank today and i saw 2 people casually sipping thier starbucks coffee and chomping down on bagels (or muffins?) and initially i was like,oh,if you only knew im about to knock you over and steal your coffee!!!
lol!!!!
ahhhh, but i remind myself that this is my choice,i have big goals ahead me-coffee will always be there, but second chances to compete at the World Cup wont be....
anyways, just hang in there with everything!
stay away from those cheat bites btw!!! just a few more days and you can have whatever you want!
stay focused and stay positive!
you can do this!!!!!
I did a post like this a couple of months ago. I love helping people but I hate wasting my time! My boss asked me, seemingly desperately, for my help to lose weight. I gave her my very first program, and told her just to focus on the diet (she had a foot injury so any exercise was pretty much out of the question). I spent an hour talking her through the program and really thought she was going to follow it through.
ReplyDeleteThe next Monday I asked her if she had started and she said it was too much effort. She's still overweight and nothing is changing! People ask and when you tell them what they don't want to hear (i.e. take this magic pill) they don't even bother trying. Drives me nuts!!!
I also hate being interrogated about what I'm eating/how I'm training when you just know the person thinks your insane. I don't ask questions about your McDonalds so leave me alone!!
YES!!!!! I hate being other people's conscious too. As in, if you want to eat the cake, don't avoid it because I am there. Eat it. I really don't care. I am not eating it, but you can eat it.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I am SO MUCH MORE than fitness. Argh. :D
Omg, this post hits so close to home. I hate when people ask me "what's your 'secret'?" I tell them "SECRET? There's no SECRET! It's just plain old fashioned exercise and diet." Everybody knows what to do, but nobody's willing to do it. They seem to think we have some extra information, but what it really is is dedication.
ReplyDeleteI also find that people are constantly trying to somehow justify themselves to me. They'll say "oh, I used to exercise a lot like you, but then such and such happened...." or "I just can't find the time to cook all those meals". Like they're trying to have me excuse them for their poor health. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love to see people succeed and I'm willing to help too, but at the end of the day it's only themselves that they're letting down.
Ok, that's my little rant lol.
